When is a white spot NOT a PARASITE?

Here is my trigger shaky he came to me with two white spots on his head near his eyes there location to one another led me to believe they were part of his markings. He has developed another white spot on his head. That it is a singular spot and its location and the time it has been on him makes me believe it is another marking and NOT a parasite

Looks like another marking from the pic but hard to tell. I don't see any other examples on Google of a 3rd marking on the nose like that.

Maybe it's a scratch? Piece of sand perhaps?

What kind of trigger is that, blue throat?

The spot near the mouth, is it flat (as if scale is missing) or is it raised? Use a magnifying glass to get a good look.

Yes Blue throat, not raised not sand its exact location makes me believe its mother nature at her best. But i will check it out with a magnifying glass and report back

Could just be a scale missing.

Obviously, ich and lymphocystis would be the diseases to consider (if spot is raised, or more occur). Could be the beginnings of HLLE.

Did the spot show up out of the blue (pun) one day?

Can't seem to find any examples of missing scales on trigger fish that show up as a bright white spot like that. Maybe unless it's missing some flesh down to the bone perhaps?

If you connect the dots though it almost looks like a perfect triangle lol. Maybe u got a unique one.

well believe Beth was right it was a missing scale. it seems to have healed. No other signs of a spot on any other fish so i am assuming it was not a parasite that has dropped off as part of its life cycle.

Well mine has a couple of scratches on his face now and they are bright white looking as well.

He got a little excited when I went to feed the fish a few nights ago and attempted to dart across the tank really fast but ran face first into a rock lol.

Just thought I'd share.

b-b-but SWF.com told me all I needed was a 55g with lots of rock for plenty of hiddy spaces.

Joe did it first.

But what if the fish was acquired using potassium cyanide. It would then go through the whole selling chain and is purchased from my LFS my yours truly. Chances are it will not make it. But wait it is I who has this fish and yes the evil one cares for it and gives it a new lease on life
