when to add sand?

I had to set up my tank without sand as the LS I purchased from e... was never delivered.
The LR arrived (from a different source) and I started cycling over a week ago. I've since ordered sand from this site (not LS) and it has arrived. Should I add it now during my cycle, or if I should wait, how long?

I can't think of a reason why you couldn't add the sand now. Stop moving water for a while when ya do it. I alway wanted to try a brand new transmission funnel(long and slender) to get sand to the bottom of the tank precisely.
You will want to top off the dead sand with some live sand at some point during the cycle(sooner the better).

I totally agree
anytime is fine. Just make sure that the LR sits on the glass bottom and put the sand around the rocks.

No, there's no glass bottom to the ocean... lol j/k. But it should. IF it sits on the sand, later on there is a chance that a fish could burrow beneath the LR and cause a rockslide, putting your other critters in danger. If it's on the bottom of the tank, there's really no chance of this, as the sand isn't holding it up.
IMO, you don't need to add LS at all if the sand will go through the cycle with the tank...

Jenn,
Thanks for the reply. I have a quick qustion (sorry DRose, I'm not hijacking
)....
Awhile back I posted a question regarding Amiracle hangon. Jenn, do you have any information regarding it? I have the slim SL-5. It came with my tank.
My tank is cycling and I'm worried about having to change the filter in the future when I have stuff in there. Please :help: !
Thanks
Scott.

sorry, scott, i'm not quite familiar with this brand. I looked at it online. What size is your tank? The filter description says it's for a 55 gallon. General rule is that you want to have a filter that will handle more than your tank size. I'd say this would be a pretty good filter for maybe a 29-35 gallon, but probably nothing more than that.
Overall, it looks like a pretty decent setup, similar to my proclear 75, except much smaller. I'll be able to answer this question better when i know what size tank you're running it on.
(i actually may purchase this for my new 35 hex aquarium, to run along with the refugium i plan to build... thanks!!!)
