I just got a new light for my tank it has 10,000K daylight, 420 nm actinic, lunar LED each operate on there own switch. So my question is when do I turn each one of them on? I know the 2LED's are for moon light at night. But are the actinic for evening? I currently run both the 10k and the actinic on during the day, then at night I turn the LED's on. Is this correct or should I change it up a bit.
I have a common anemone, two clowns, fire fish, scopas tang, urchin, choc star, emrald crab and hermit.

The answer is yes, you can do that if you like....
Here are some pic's of the light ranges.
The left side of this chart shows the light ranges that would be helpful to have for corals

just found this :jy: And I know I am very nerdy

You should be able to look up your light bulbs to see how well they supply the light that is needed. If you can't get the info from the manufacture of your bulbs, then I would change the bulbs and manufacture.

So now I've done some reading on light cycles and that it is best to have a schedule, what timer's are good to use? I looked at a corallife dule timer, it has 8 outlets on it.
Controls 3 Sets of Lights

  • 4 Alternating Timer (2 Atinic Blue Outlets - 2 Lunar Light Outlets)

  • 3 Day Shift Timer (3 10,000k Daylight Outlets)

  • 1 Constant Power

  • Sliding Outlet Safety Cover
    On/Off Switch
    Multiple Timer Settings
    24 Hour Mechanical Timer
    15 Minute Interval Settings
so from this discription can I have my 10k my actinic and my lunar's come on at different times or is one set of outlets powered when another set goes off?
Thanks for the info above it made my head hurt, really bad.

So I have also use timers you can get at HD or LOW.

the ends are just regular plugs so the spacing isn't a problem. I just wanted to make sure I have control over 3 seperate outlets. Did you say lowes or home depot have these type of timers?

Not those but you can find other types. There has been some people that say the corallife timers are junk but the ones I have had lasted two three years.
