When will my xenia pump ?

I added brown-pinkish colored xenia to my tank 3 days ago...
It has only 20cm to my 14w x 2 (10000K) + 14x2 actinics, and has a good current against it...
The question is when will my xenia start to pump ?
I have
ammonia - nitrite 0
sg 1.025
pH 8,05
nitrate not know.
79 F
or will my xenia ever start to give pulse ?
Shall I wait for extra time or give any iodine addition ?

I am not sure that all Xenia pulse. Did yours in the LFS where you bought it? Do not dose any Iodine unless you have a test kit for it and you are sure that it needs it. Normally in a small tank weekly water changes will replenish any Iodine needed by the tank.

"When will my xenia pump?" my wife has been asking me that question for years.
Seriously though, when I first got my pulsing xenia, it took a few days for it to acclimate... it works best in a lower-flow area. It shouldn't look like it's being pushed around by the waves.
Also, are you testing for calcium and alk? Are you putting phytoplankton in there for the xenia to filter out?

Xenia doesn't really pump when ph is that low. They typically pump when the ph is around 8.2 or 8.3.

Honestly I dont have test for calc and alk. but I use aragamilk daily few drops for my 25g.
I actually didnt see them pumping at lfs ...
What can I do to raise the pH ? or Should I raise the pH, everything else except the Xenia seems fine to me..

Is the "0" 8.05 a typo? Depending on your setup, typically the salt use you to make sw has a buffer in it to increase the ph.

nope, it is around 8, it fluctuates between 7.95 and 8.05 ...
I dont get it, I bought Red Sea salt, even it was about 7.5..
I have a digital ph meter and calibration buffers, so I am pretty sure I have right results..

If that is the case, they do sell buffers, you have several options, but I think seachem sells a buffer that buffers up to 8.3. With out having to figure out your KH and AK and other stuff.

ok.. I will wait for a week for full acclimation of the xenia, then I will look for pH solutions..
thanks..

I have a few types of xenia. Two look a lot alike, but only one is a pulsing xenia. And it took a few weeks for it to really get going. I have it high in my tank, and it loves the bright 250w halides. It is growing like crazy now, and the one piece I had has now split into 3 stocks.
