where did it go?

I bought a scissortail goby, yesterday. It was swimming great during the day, but since I turned the lights out last night, I haven't seen it. I have a 200gallon tank with lots of hiding places. The stock I have is:
Flame Angel, sm Yellow watchman goby, 6-Line wrasse, bi-color blenny, 3 green chromis, 2 percula clown, dragon wrasse, yellowhead sleeper goby, and inverts.
Does anyone know where he might be?

goby in a 200 gallon tank with hiding places is like a needle in a haystack LOL
My firefish hid for about 3 days before boldly venturing out of it's rocky nook.
I'd bet it's just hiding .
How big is it ? 1" 1-1/2"

I'd say it is about 2 inches. What would be the reason it swam yesterday and hid today?

gosh I don't know for sure .. but I have noticed that some fish acclimate differently than do others.
Some hide immediately for a period of time, while others just take off swimming and don't hide at all.
My firefish was a little skiddish at first - and sort of did what you are describing.
Hard to say for sure -
I guess just keep your eyes open and look for it to peak out. Sometimes at feeding a hiding fish will tend to come out more at first.

not to cut in, but the scissortails are like the ff, and really need a water tight lid, IMO, if there are any gaps or holes in the top at all, check real close they are excellent jumpers, and will find their wat through a 1 inch gap if at all possible, another thing to check is if you got a sump, check there and or the overflow, probably and I HOPE< he is just hiding, they are beautiful fish, but these are only possibilities that could be looked at

what does your scissor tail look like? i brought a fish from my LFS and they named it a scissor tail hog. i was just wondering if they could have made a mistake on the name because i have never heard of a scissor tail hog before: mine is gray, looks kind if like a fw angel, w/ black vertical strips on its body and has white dots on its fins (it is not ich ) does this sound like your scissor tail??? if i do happen to have the same fish it took a week or two to really get bold and start swimming around the tank, it does like to hide when the light are off though.
