Where did they go?

I bought 3 Pep shrimp 2-3 days ago and I haven't seen them since I bought them. Do these things hide or did they die? They are small but nothing, haven't seen them. Is this normal?

Well -
They can hide, they can be eaten, they can die.
What do you have in the tank? How did you acclimate them? Have you looked in the tank after dark (they often don't stand out in the open).
They are very sensitive to osmotic issues and need a long acclimation. If your specific gravity is below 1.024 this could do them in. Do you have aggressive fish? Brittlestars?

After I bought my peppermint shrimp, they didn't come out of hiding for about a week. Now, they only come out at feeding time and night.

Aggressive fish: Maroon clown
Salt 1.025
I did not drip them, temp. acclimate and poured some tank water in slowly every few minutes. It was the same salinity as my tank. The guy at the store said didn't have to drip. I know I should have. It was freezing that night and had them in the bag a while so I wanted to get them in.

I don't remember specifically drip acclimating mine...hmm, at any rate they can hide very well. I guess anything is possible but my money is on the fact that they are still adjusting and analyzing the new situation. They are much more active at night...well at least mine are.

I haven't drip acclimated any of my inverts and they have done just fine. I added first 3 and then 4 Peppermints to our large tank and most of the time I see them all hanging under ledges during the day time. They do their slow swaying from side to side
When I feed the tank that is when they crawl out and go after food.

Probably hiding. I bought two and thought they were eaten by fish the first day. They just seemed to vanish. A few days later I found one dead on top of a rock. A few days after that I saw one. A few days after that I saw two!! Shocked the *** out of me. Then I read about shrimp and how they molt. Anyway, give it some time.

mine too. they only come out at night or when they smell mysis and Aptasia!
when i went to the lfs to get them, they instantly went for the rock and shaked the crap out of it hoping a peppermint would come out from hiding from inside. so i rekon they hide quite a bit.

Well, the whole reason I got them is for the Aptasias in my tank. I don't think any of them are gone yet. Its just weird, they are NO WHERE to be found. I do have a lot of rock work but I thought I could see them by now. The only thing I have in the tank is coral and maroon and cleaner shrimp. Think I could have a mantis and not even know it? Tank is pretty established. I don't hear clicking.

UPDATE: Found 2 of them! I moved the Chaeto (however you spell it) around then they appeared somewhere else. They might have been hiding around that area. I just hope they start eating those Aptasias!!!
