Where do copepods come from?

I bought a tank used back in May/June and it had a crushed coral bottom. The tank was supposedly running for about 2 years beofre I bought it. It has now been set up in my home since then, but I believe I had alot of die off during the move. I just switched to a Live Sand bottom last week. What I am wondering is where copepods come from? I know a lot of research has shown that they just start reproducing in the tank, but I haven't seen a single one.
Now I do not yet have a sump or fuge, but that is in the works. Please give me some insight on where they come from and if I have to buy them so they beging to reproduce.

They come in off live rocks, live sand, that type of thing. When I electrocuted my tank they all died off and I had to re-introduce them by adding a few new pieces of live rock. You can buy bottles of them too to introduce them.

They ussually come wth live rock and or your live sand. If you want to increase your population you can buy them on line. I ussually repopulate every six mo so.

I just found some in my tank. They are all over the glass and it looks bad. How do you get them off the glass or should I say under control without a mandarin? What other inverts eat them?

When you get your fuge up and running you can buy some micro alage form an established tank and it should have a good number of them.
