Alright, well I will give you my opinions on everything. Here goes:
-40 lbs. of live rock (very important!)
-Emporer 280 bio-wheel filter
-small AquaClear/Maxi Jet powerhead
-Aqua C Remora or Excalibur protein skimmer
-Won Bros. 150 watt heater
-small bag of aragonite for a thin layer of substrate
-refractometer to measure salinity (important for stars, even easier ones like chocolate chips)
-bucket of Oceanic salt (treats 200 gallons)
-Saltwater master test kit (to test for pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and alkalinity)
Plan for action:
-Set the tank up, fill it with 25-30 gallons of saltwater
-Turn on the filter and heater. Check salinity with refractomter and adjust accordingly
-Run the filter for 24 hours
-Buy your 40 lbs. of live rock and allow the rock to cycle the tank for 4 to 6 weeks
-After your tank has cycled, buy your clean-up crew of snails and hermit crabs
-A week or two after that, you will be ready to add your pair of clowns.
Keep in mind all starfish need fairly established tanks, so these should be added at a later date.
