Where do you get/like to get your corals? LFS? Friends? Trade? Online?
Do you like to buy them full size or Frags?

Actually, I don't like buying full size corals because I would rather buy something small and watch it grow in my tank. Frags are the best bet for that. I go to one of the LFS and check the tanks for stray corals(ones that start growing out of the substrate). Tonight I bought 7 corals. 5 of them were different mushrooms and the other 2 were Zoos. I only paid 3 a piece for them for a total of 21 dollars, not a bad deal.

I just went and bought 2 loose shrooms for $4 & $6 each. The LFS told me to stick them in a crevice. I know that people here like to glue them or wrap them in cheese cloth. What do you suggest so that they dont blow away?

Are they attached to nay sort of base? If not you may need to find a small piece of rock and secure the shroom to it. I like to use a rubberband and bridal netting, but there are many options out there. If you warp the shroom make sure it isn't too tight or the shroom will split.
As for picking out corals I have mostly purchased frgas both at LFS and on-line. I did buy a larger coral from this site and it is outgrowing my small tank quickly, BUT I think it can be inspiring to start with one larger piece and then add frags from then on so that things take on a reef look more quickly. What size is your tanK?

I have a 12 gallon nano cube. Bridal netting or crazy glue? Humm. decisions. My fear came true. The shrooms that I pushed into a crevice floated down to the sand. I placed them both in a disposable plastic cup. I will get some stuff to secure it in the morning.

I live 40 miles south of indianopils In. But I drive 80 miles south to lousivle Ky. to buy my frags I have found that buying the small ones once they start to grow they do much beter. I ques growing up in the tank insteed of the wild helps them do beter in the tank. I just bought 6 nice frags a toadstool yellow polyps green zoos green button a yuma mushroom and white stars for $10 each i have had great luck with these type of corals so I decided to add more and now once they grow i will have a great reef.

I would super glue it. You can get some pretty cheap at the dollar store. Have to watch your spendings when it comes to this hobby. I use a lot of super glue! :happyfish
