Hi!
I'm trying to cycle my tank and I'm not sure if I need carbon yet. I don't know if it were interfere with the cycle process. Another question I have is where would I put it? Should I put it in my sump? If so do I just sprinkle it on a filter pad? Whats the best way to go about doing this?
Thanks

As long as water is flowing through it.
I have a canister so that makes adding carbon easy. However…any place that has good water flow will work. When I want to run extra carbon I get a stocking and put my carbon in that and tie it to the center brace in front if a power head.
So you can do that or get a stocking fill it with some carbon, tie it off and put in the sump where the water flows over it.

I use boyd's chemi-pure which comes in a mesh bag. I just shove it between baffles in my sump. Two bags of chemi-pure (the recommends amount for my tank size) pretty much cover the width of my sump when flattened between the baffles.
