Can anyone tell me why there is not much in stock. I am a new user to this site and have odered some stuff and have been really pleased, but lately there is not much in stock. What is happening. Also, I was wondering what I need to do toget all my life rock to start producing some coral and interesting things. I have had my 75 for 5months and my levels are great, but I just want to see somthing more. Please help with these questions!

Test your calicum levels. You may need to add kalc or something to increase calicum levels. Just be sure to test for ph and such also. You can use a toothbrush to spead the coral line, if that's what you mean. Lr won't grow corals. Having lr with healthy growth is a good way to start.
No idea why things are in stock, unless it has something to do with the huricanes.

I believe the low selection is due to the amounts of hurricanes etc. As far as your lr goes, it should have plenty of life IN it. It will not produce corals though unless something very small has hitchhiked in and you had it under very good lighting the whole time. IMO, if you have not seen any growth so far, you may not. Mine produced great growth within weeks. But I bought it locally, not shipped in.

There is no doubt that prices are up and availability is low. There is an LFS in my town that has a flame angle right now and asking 75 bucks. I didn't laugh out loud and certainly didn't entertain any thoughts of paying that much despite having searched for one for a couple of weeks.
Things will get back to normal after the holidays I suspect. In the mean time if you have money to spend on your tank I would suggest looking into equipment upgrades for now. Maybe its time to up-size the tank. By the time its ready for livestock, my guess prices and availability will be back to normal.

We bought 130lb of live rock when we started our tank, and the only thing that "grew" on it coral-wise was a hitchhiker lobophylia (we think...still not sure). You will need to purchase corals, mushrooms, etc. But with good water quality, many of these (such as mushrooms, polyps, xenias) will spread. So if money is an issue, you can pick up some frags from your LFS for relatively cheap & just be patient! I was at the LFS today & picked up a frag of Zoos for $8...had about 10 polyps on it...
Good luck!
