I bought a 3inch firefish yesterday. I also have a 3inch wrass and foxface. This moring he was there and 3 hours later he was gone. My lfs said it would work. Were they wrong?
Where is my firefish.

Zack firefish are very shy if you have alot of lr than chances are since you just bought him yesterday he is hiding. Give it a couple days before you begin to worry.

I only have 6 pounds in there. It is also only a 29 gall tank. I have not seen a trace of him yet.

i would start checking in ANY filters, powerheads, also look ALL around the tank, new scared fish seem to jump a lot

I have seen firefish go into a small hole in a rock and even 6 pounds is enough for them to hide in. If it is not in any of the places mentioned above give it a few days and it should appear. I have always done pairs as they tend to stay out more when paired up.

i took 2 weeks for my firefish to come out and bee happy. now they are out all the time. I find a fire fish in my sump around every other week. they just like the ride i think. make sure you check your filter. other than that just don't make many sudden jerks at the tank. you may not be able to see him but chances are he can see you

I do have an idea tho, turn off all lights (tank and in the room) for about 20 mins, then with a flashlight look into the tank, you may be surprised to see him swimming around

Bad news. I took your idea about the flashlight and when I was looking I looked under my tank and there he was. Dead! I heard a splash on the first day but I was stupied and did not bother to look. The only part of my tank where he could jumpis very small. I guess he is just lucky.

they jump out all the time. my tank is completely sealed with anyway out covered by mosquito netting. I love jawfish and they are avid jumpers as well
