Where to install and RO Unit

I'm thinking of purchaseing a Maxxima 24 GPD RO unit. My question is where do most people set these things up in their home? I know I will need a place where I can keep a container to catch the water. Also, do most people use a float switch to automatically cut off the unit?
Also, it is really necessary to get the DI chamber or is a 3 stage sufficient. I have city water which is chlorinated and hard.
Thanks,
Tangman

Remember, You have to have a place for the waste water to drain so you are limited..

I have the actual RO in my garage split off my washing machine, with 25' of tubing that leads into in a 44 gallon trash can in my kitchen. (waste water goes in the drain of the washer)Then when I am not using it I roll the tubing up and put the full can of water in one of my spare bedrooms... (I have flooded my kitchen a few times!! I need to get a float switch!)
where in fl are u?

I have mine mounted on the back of my house next to the spicket. I have a garden hose leading off down to the back of my yard for the run off.

mine is in the garage, I have 2 40 gallon containers on a shelf that is 1 1/2 feet off the ground(this aids in siphoning).. one salt and one fresh, they are sitting in a shallow tub that has a drain that goes to the outside(this is to prevent in overflow spills inside, and for the waste water). then i run a garden house from the outside to the RODI unit which is mounted on the wall by the 40 gallon buckets.
