As the title says...
Where is a good place for a weekend anniversary vacation? It can be a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I want to fly somewhere in May/June with my wife and take a mini-vacation outside the usual four states that we go to. (Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Other parts of Louisiana...)
Where is somewhere fun and something fun to see or do?
Possibly a cruise??

I just know that when you buy tickets and what not they are cheaper now then they will be if you buy them the week before...
Any recommendations?

If you've never been to Vegas that's fun. There's a lot more to do than gamble. Another option would be to rent a house boat on lake Havasu there. Play on the lake all day and drive into vegas at night to party.

You like amusement parks? Cedar Point in Sandusky.
I took my wife for a 3 day weekend to Monterrey/Carmel area. Right on the ocean and a few hours from San Francisco. Or you could head south on the PCH and go hike Big Sur.

I would recommend a cruise to anybody. I've only been on one, but thoroughly enjoyed it.
I've been recently informed that I will take the wife to Las Vegas this year for her 50th birthday; she has never been, I was there once; I did not resist the "suggestion" very much. I agree with Reef that LV should be on the list of possibilities.
I want to soon take a train to DC and spend a few days on the mall visiting The Smithsonian, Air and Space Museum, etc...

The above recommendations are great places. Vegas, though may be iffy in terms of weather. Cedar point may actually be closed this time of year too... also weather.
I like a long weekend in a big city... New York, Chicago, LA. Cruises are great. I took 5 days last year and went to Budapest... it was amazing but that's a little bigger than just a long weekend.
If it were me this time of year I'd probably go skiing in Colorado or Utah or something but I don't know if you're into that type of activity.

Vegas is a blast because there are a million and one things to do there besides gamble. You have ammusement park rides, exellent food, shopping, clubs etc all in the same place. If you do like to gamble a little bit the wife and I spent a weekend over in Tunica, Mississippi and had a really enjoyable weekend by ourselves. It's not too far from ya.

He's looking at going in May/June. Nice and hot in Vegas that time of year. There is plenty of tourist things to do there now besides gambling. The shows are pretty pricey ($75 - $125 per ticket). If you're into country, Shania Twain has a show at Ceasar's now. Always Boulder Dam and Red Rock Canyon. My problem with taking the wife to Vegas is she spends half her time on the nickel Video Poker machines...
