Whew!

I've been hearing clicking in my tank for quite some time, and worried about a mantis, I finally got around to looking for the source. Fortunately, it was coming from a small rock that was easy to get to, and look what popped out, a little pistol shrimp! I was surprised how loud the clicks were from such a small shrimp, it's only about 3/4" long. It's now living in my refugium.

You know, I'm wondering if I have one of those. I also hear clicking in my tank but have never been able to find out what it is. I'm sure it's not a Mantis because my tank has been up for almost a year and I've never seen any destructive evidence of a Mantis. I'm not going to take apart my newly aquascaped tank though to find out. Whatever it is it's getting plenty of food since it's lasted for almost a year now.

Azfishgal, yeah, I never really thought I had a mantis, at least not a big one, since I wasn't losing anything, but it is nice to know it was just a little pistol. I didn't want to look for it, either, but fortunately it was on a little rock that was easy to get to. Good luck with the hunt!

I think I've got one of those, I hear a click now and then. I only saw him once in the near 3 months I've had my tank, it was when a hermit got close to his hole in the rock. He popped out and clicked a couple times at the hermit (to no avail), its kind of a blue/gray color....

why did you put it in the fuge. It wont hurt anything in the main tank

Well, if he starts to get bigger, I may get rid of him. The clicking is kind of annoying.
