Which fish tank is better?

It is going to be a FOWLR. I have been looking at fish tanks and noticed some are higher than longer (5 foot x 2 foot x 3 foot). And some tank are longer then taller (6 foot x 18 inches x 2 foot). Is there a difference in the amount and size of fish that can go into them?

Longer is always better. This gives them more swimming room. Fish wont just go up and down. They swim left to right majority of the time.
Plus cleaning a 3 foot tank what a nightmare. You will get soaked everything. Unless you have gorilla arms that are 4 feet long.

for instance. You can have a 150 cube tank vs a normal 150 rectangle tank. The 150 6 footer is a better tank for tangs or smaller Angels species and dawrfs. They have more swimming room thank a 4 foot 150. If you can afford it and have the room a 7 foot 210 or 240 would be a great tank. Most fish you get will be okay in there for life and the bigger angels will be okay for many many years.

Yeah; and the more surface area, the better the gas exchange. You can safely keep more fish in a tank with more surface area than a tall tank of the same capacity. Much of a tall tank's space is seldom used by the occupants anyway.

what are your plan for the tank? Coral set up? FOWLR? Then it depends on fish

FOWLR tank. Fish I want are like porcupine puffer, angel fish, 2 clownfish, yellow tang, and hippo tang.

With the tangs you would be much better off with a 6 foot or longer tank. They do much better with a long tank for more swimming room.

6 foot tank is still too small. Look people think a 125 or 150 is a big tank for the fish listed. For clowns yes. For the angels no. Large angels like an emp angel roam areas of reefs that are the size of a small house. The bigger the fish the bigger the tank. It will only cause stress and or aggression. Then fish will die.
