I'm going to buy tank raised horses but am still researching on which type I want to have join my zoo.
I'm leaning towards H. erectus (southern).
If the seahorses have fry I'd like them to have a higher rate of survival than some of the horses out there.
How did YOU pick your breed and do you recommend it?

yes , If I could do a tank all over again it would be s. h. erectus....their fry are ALOT easier .....sometimes if you google a seahorse source , you might find what your looking for.. ... just from one seahorse friend to another

I , on the other hand have the hardest , h.n. erectus, h. reidies , and h. kelloggis, but have 3 grown out to adults, not the best ratio, but I'm adapting to there very , very special needs....more so that h. zoes at birth, as they won't eat bbs

you might also look at H fuscus. Thier fry are also benthic-hitch at birth. I beleive the also take bbs as first food. They are also a smaller horse that may fit your tank size better. I do love my Erectus though

Thanks for the info. I've talked to Abby before and really like her. I've got plenty of time to look into the different species but wanted to narrow my research.
Ohhh this is going to be fun!
My husband just stared at me tonight when I told him. Kind of like this smilie....
