Which lighting system is better for a reef tank. It will eventually be used in a 72 gallon bowfront AGA that I am putting together.
1. The Current USA 48 inch Nova Extreme Pro T5 that has 6 54W bulbs with individual reflectors
2. The Current USA 48 inch Nova Extreme T5 that has 8 54W bulbs...but only has a single parabolic reflector for all the bulbs.
The fact that one has the name "pro" in it has me leaning towards that one. I have also heard from my LFS that individual reflectors gives better results. I am relatively new to the hobby (about 7 months)...I appreciate any help.

go with the pro. Individual reflectors are way better. The pro is more bong for the buck in my opinion. The tek 8 bulb is good but the only problem is that with them you have to buy the mounting legs and the splash guard seperatly. the pro comes with them. Also if you change the stock bulbs that come with the pro to ATI or giessman it will blow your mind away. just my .02

#1...welcome to the boards.
#2...The Extreme 8 bulb is a fine unit. Individual reflectors are great, no doubt, but the NEW current extremes have individual reflectors. The older ones didn't. The 8 bulb unit is still a single reflector, but it's a german parabolic and has the 4 white led moonlights. (wish they were blue, but I'm gonna change them)
As a sidenote, I just bought a 8 bulb 48" unit last weekend to replace my Outer orbit 2 x 250w MH + 4 54w T5 unit. I had to buy 2 fiji purple bulbs to put in the spot of 2 of the current 10K bulbs.
It is a very bright, strong unit. I am very happy with it so far.
