Which Method?

I'm transfering from a 10 gal to a 20 gal and I was wondering which method would work better because I need to make this a quick transfer. I need the water to calm down so I can put the fish in there, I already have 10 gallons of water in there and I'm going to take the 10 gallons of water and rock out of my 10 gallon and put it in there but I need some place to put the fish. So I was wondering whether I should put the sand or the water in first? (which one will get unclouded quickest)

i would say put the sand in a bowl, then pour it in super slowly, then add the water by putting a bowl on the sand and let the water hit the bowl first instead of hitting the sand....i did this move from 10 to 20, took me about 2.5hrs

I heard its best to
remove fish
remove lr
remove water till three inches from sand; do not disturb sand only water
then scoop sand out.
put a thin layer of your ls on bottom
then build up your lr
add the remaining ls around lr
slowly pour your fresh slwat over the lr then add your saltwater from your old tank slowly
as long as you pour the water genltly over the lr you won't get too much sediment
once your tank clears up; after running for about an hour you should be good to go.
