I am getting some fish and my first clean up crew for my 30 gallon and was wondering out of these fish I am going to keep in there which ones should I add First??
Here they are
Psychedelic Mandarin Dragonet
Firefish Goby
True Per. Clown
Yellow Tang - Small ( will go to my 55 when bigger)
I know this is alot of fish but I have my 55 running with only a regal tang and a pistol shrimp in there right ow so if the Boiload is to much I will move a fish or 2 in there. I just want to try and see if it will work out. I have 35 Lbs of LR and I also have 2 1/2 - 3" DSB.
Invertabrates =
2 cleaner shrimp
dozen snails 4 astrea/4 turbo/4 bumble bee snails
Coral banded shrimp
and maybe like a emerald or proclie crab.
Thx guyz not to rush you but am getting first Creature tomorrow So time is against me
Thx for your help

Start out with the inverts first. Get the snails and the shrimp first so that they are established and then purchase the fish. I strongly dont reccomend the Psychedelic Mandarin Dragonet .

A mandarin will most likely starve to death if you don't have about 100 lbs. of LR and a refugium for pods to reproduce. Most of them will not learn to accept prepared fish food. Live pods are their only food.
Your regal tang should be in a larger tank than 55g. And putting a yellow in a 30g is not a good idea either. Even when they are small, they need the swimming space. You are planning on eventually having a YT and a regal in your 55g?
:nope:

First of. I am going to get the inverts like a clean up drew and such then wait about a couple of weeks then get my first fish.
Second My regal is a baby stil and is quite small. Also I have a 125 Reef and the regal would go in there if he became stressed in ANY way. I origonally had him in there but he was getting pushed around and beaten up be my other fish. The regal was stavring to death he couldn't get any food and I tried the whole feed ont side of the tank then sneek in some for the regal on the other and my fish would just fly to the other side before he got any. I have many things that a YT can thrive in a 30 and if he doesn't I will move him the 55, were I know he will be fine.
The YT I have on hod for me is about 1/2" so 2 1/2' is plenty for him to swim around in at that size.
And Third my Mardarin will still be going into my tank. I have a 20 gallon refuge on that with 23 lb of LR and also 35lbs of LR in the display. thats totals 58 lbs of LR + all the pods and such I am growing in the refuge. I am almost positve he will do fine. I toolk some water in to my LFS which is a good one and I trus them and they took in it the back poured it into one of the tanks they hae a Mandarin in and he went crazy. He started to go up were the water was just poured and ate like a pig so I think mine should do fine.
And lastly Can you give me an order in which I should put my in or does it not matter with these specific fish wich order they go in?
Thx for all your concerns and help

Hope your manadarin dies quickly  (instead of slowly starving to death) just because he ate like a pig does not mean he will always have a huge reliable food source - like roughly 100 lbs of LR plus a nice refugium ....
Fish order -smallest to largest is probably best - in this case I would go with:
Firefish
Clown
Yellow Tang
Good luck

You just have to trust me on this one there is alot of pods int these two tanks and i mean ALOT. I had a LFS guy come out to my house to show him somthing and he said that that was the most pods he had ever seen in a tank like mine. I was proud that day LOL. I have had my refuge up for 3 1/2 months and just let the pods go nutz. they had no predators so their population BOOMED big time. The mandarin has food in there for at least 3 months would be my guess.
If he starts to starve I will get some copepods from a magizen I have and I will feed him those. I'm not to worried about the Madarin I know he wil be fine.
Thx for all the concerns

Vince - my biggest concern is that they take the brightest and prettiest mandarins off the reefs and the population in the wild decreases as the females only mate with the best and the brightest (hmm sounds like a high school clique) and when you have a sole mandarin you are not increasing the chances of learning anything about breeding the fish in captivity (it is very hard to do but they do breed it is raising the young that is the hardest part).
I'm not meaning this as a flame - just that it seems like this fish gets imported and dies off and most everyone who had it die said the same thing - huge pod population, will work to get it to eat frozen food .....
One suggestion - if you do get one try cyclop-eeze frozen food - everythign goes nuts for the stuff in my tank!
