Which Protein Skimmer?!!?

I need some advice as to what protein skimmer to invest in. Im setting up 120 gallon FOWLRLS to begin with, and hopefully moving to a reef system. I want to get a good skimmer (under 300$ if possible). Is there a such thing? I also would love for it to be quiet as the tank is in my bedroom. I hear great things about Euro Reef, but its like 400$ plus. I need some advice!

I would definitely consider the EuroReefs...mine has been a great addition dispite the cost. There are others that may be good choices...but EuroReef is the best for the price in my opinion.

The Berlin 250 is also a nice skimmer but also costs the $$ I replaced one of my SeaClone 150's and could not believe the difference.

I bought a remora by aqua-c off of ---- for 165 bucks. It works fantastic. It's hang on back and very easy to set up. If I had the money I would have invested in the euro-reef, but this one works great. A lot of people say you get what you pay for, and I couldnt agree more. I had a visi-jet protein skimmer that only cost 40 bucks. Now it sits on a shelf because it is a piece of _ _ _ _.

Which Euro-Reef are you after? If you email me (flankerbait @ hot mail dot com), I can hook you up with a source that might be a little cheaper than what you're seeing. I got my ES5-3 for $248.

Here's another vote for a Euro Reef. There is a source that sells fully functional blemished models of ERs at great prices. You could also look into Southbay skimmers, which are a ER knockoff line, but still work great.

Ok, I'm considering a Euro Reef. Everyone says its the best and thats what I want for my tank. I like the CS6-1 series. I found it for 299$. Some websites say it covers 75-250 gallons and some say up to 100 gallons. I have a 120 gal. tank. Is this skimmer the right size or do I need another model? By the way, this will be my first purchase toward the aquarium. I want to set up a sump type filtration unit. I was planning on a 30 gal. tank underneath in the cabinet to use with and overflow box and a good power head (possibly a refugium in a 10 gal.) Is it ok to get my skimmer first?

The CS6-1 is a great skimmer and should work fine on a 120. When my 150 was still set up, the CS6-1 was the skimmer I used on that system. The tank was moderately stocked and I never once felt that the skimmer was underpowered.
