You will get all kinds of different opinions. Certain salts work for certain people. Some people love Instant Ocean, and then there are some like me and Thomas712 who have had very bad experiences with it. The same for Oceanic. I love the salt, and there are some who hate it. You will get that with every salt.
Bottom line is that you NEED to check the levels of every new salt batch, no matter what. pH, kH, and calcium have to be tested for.
I definitely like Oceanic for the same reasons that Lion does. I've done a sort of mini-experiment with salts, and with Instant Ocean my calcium does not come near enough to keep my corals and clam as happy as Oceanic salt does...not to mention the difference in my coraline algea between the two (again, because of the calcium levels, I assume...no higher than 360 in my tank with IO, and a steady 420 with Oceanic). I'm sold on the Oceanic.
