nm reef Active Member Apr 25, 2005 #3 The basics would be ammonia/nitrite/nitrate and PH to monitor the cycle. Many hobbyists also test for calcium/alkalinity/magnesium....plus you'll need a means of accurately monitoring temp and salinity/Specific Gravity
