I thought I would put a post up regarding this subject. It seems that there are some instances where people are being mislead and sold white anemones. And that they are supposed to be this color and are assumed to be healthy. This is by far not true, in general there is no such thing as a healthy white anemone. However the degree of white needs to be clarified. I posted a few pictures as to what the differences are this is just an FYI for anyone interested in knowing what to look for in color when deciding on an anemone.
There are healthy anemones that have a white'ish tone to them.. and by looking at the below pictures you can further see what I mean.
The first one is a bleached out Rose BTA. Note the transparent look to its tenticles and base. This is considered unhealthy....
This is a healthy Rose BTA.
This next set is what is most often seen. The specimen is a Sebea anemone. And the first 2 are severely bleached. Note the transparent tenticles and base again.
These last 2 however are actually very healty specimens and are what should be refered to as white sebae anemones. Although their color isnt what you would say white but more cream to pale yellow.
I just thought I would put some examples up to show the differences in them. If there is already a post like this the mods can delete this one.
