white dusting

Hi everyone, I bought a majestic Angel about 4 weeks ago and he was in quarrantine for that period. I put him into my 150 gallon last week, and the next day he had some white spots or dusting on him. I left him in the main tank for another day. That morning he was covered with white dusting, I was able to catch him and put him back in the 20 gallon QT with Paragard. The strangest thing is the next evening he is completely clean. So I leave him in the QT for another week. He appears fine, he eats like a pig and swims around fine. Two days ago I put him back in the main tank, and today he has the white dusting on him again. I am confused of what that could be. Any help is appreciated.

I have live rocks and sand in my main tank. I did notice white particles coming off the rocks when he picks at it. Its probably debris on the rocks. I also have alittle bit of sand just enough to lightly cover the bare bottom in the QT.

The next time that you see the spots take a good look at them with a magnifying glass. Sand would be rough looking. Ich is smooth and round.

Thanks for you concern. What really bothers me is why the Majestic die? My water parameters are: amm=0 nitrite=0 nitrate=40 pH=8.2 sg=1.019. All my other fishes are fine. I did notice after the first day the Majestic started to get those white dusting and his eyes appeared alittle cloudy and slight pop. Even though he's gone I would still like to know what happened? If anyone has any idea I would like to hear about it. Thanks

Did you acclimate him from the QT to the DT? If so, for how long? What is the SG in the QT? 1.019 is very low for a display tank.
