White film on my new tank

Hello all,
I'm assuming this is a common problem, but I haven't found anyone with a picture that matches what I'm seeing. I just setup my new tank last weekend. Its a 55 gallon saltwater with a 10 gallon sump below. It has GFO and Carbon Filtration and bioballs and protein skimmer. It has base rock and plain aquarium sand (from *****, yes I went cheap on this one, and hopefully didn't burn myself). Things were great for a few days, but about 3 or 4 days ago, I woke up to a white coating on my tank and filter parts. I'm guessing its either powder from the sand or possibly lime coating from my water. The only reason I'm leaning against the lime coating is that I'm never had this issue with my 20 gallon freshwater tank I've had for years. I'll attach a few pictures and can provide any more info that would be helpful, but I'm not sure how to get rid of it. I was able to scrap some off with my metal glass scrapper, and got a bit more with a tank brush, but its just not coming off very easily at all.

Any advise on what I'm seeing right now would be REALLY appreciated. I'm hoping to keep this tank clear and clean for 3-4 weeks before I even think of adding fish. Though, I didn't think I'd run into a problem like this so fast.
Thanks All,
Rob
