White Foam on top of water when i added my sand??? PLZ HELP!

I added some aragonite sand yesterday to my 55 gal tank, i added 60 lbs of it. The directions said to wash gently til milky water becomes cloudy. Ok, i did that, added my sand and it was REALLLLLLY cloudy and milky. couldnt even see anything inside the tank milky. Now, this morning, theres a white foam on top of water and the cloudiness is clearing up but its still not clear. The water stinks too now. Please tell me if this is normal or if not what should i do! thanks.

The cloudyness is from not washing the dust off the sand enough. You should wash it untill when the water comes through the sand, its clear. The other reason could be just the normal cloudiness you get with adding sand, but that cleaers up over night.

it'll clear, and you can point a poerhead at the surface to help break it up too,, it normally takes a good dayor 2 for it to settle with good circulation

itll settle in a day or two you dont even have to really wash the sand i didnt i heard it removes silt that is helpful in a dsb the foam stuff is a mess though aint it. i just waited till it cleard up after a few days and then cleaned everything off

Whats up with the stink part did you have some die off in the sand what kind of stink dead smell? what kind of sand (brand) and were did you get it ?

If it still stinks run some fresh carbon in your filter it will take the smell out.
