I have this white stuff like a film almost on quite a few of my rocks, it's quite ugly and I am wondering if any one knows what it is and if I need to try to get rid of it somehow. I have enclosed a picture. Tank is 55g, Amm 0 Trites 0 Trates 0 Ph 8.2 phosohates 0 Temp 80 Salinity 1.021.
Thanks for your help.

There areseveral things that it could be. It is hard to see with your pic, but some times sponges grow that are very translucent. Also, if there is ever die off of rock in your tank, there will be a coating of stuff. Also, some animals secret a mucas for trapping food.
Watch it, does it get any bigger? How fast is it growing.
Can you blow it off with a turkey baster or is it connected?

its connected, I tried to remove some with a baster and a small brush and it sticks unless I really try to scrub...what kind of animal would secret this to catch food? I have attached another photo I know they are a bit fuzzy but I can't seem to get a clear one....
