White sacks or pods forming in sump..

I have noticed that I have a rapidly growing number of these little white pods or sacks in my sump. I have also a couple in the tank. What are they and are they a cause for alarm. Any info would be greatly appreciated

can you take a picture of them? do a search for q-tip sponges and see if they look like what you have.
