White spots on blue hippo

Hey everybody
my blue hippo has showed alot of white spots about the size of a send grains all over his body. he doesn't seems to be scratching against anything and he's been swimming alot the whole day and he was eating just fine today.
anyone has any ideas of any pictures of hippos with ich so i could compare?
i don't have camera so i can't take pictures

There are photos of a Blue Hippo with Ich in the Fish Disease thread at the top of this board (posted by Beth). Just finishing up Hyposalinity on a blue hippo at this time (there was two, only one survived the Hyposalinity treatment). If you see why spots on a Blue Hippo, it is more than likely Ich.

i also found out that my yellow tang has lymphocystis which i understoond wasn't deadly? and should heal after about a month... am i wrong?
and according to the pictures of that tank i defently have some early stage of ich. anyone have any good ideas of treating the fish?
the fish is about 5 inches long... and what options do i got ?

Lymphocyctis will go away with proper water conditions and a healthy and varied diet. As Beth stated there is information in the disease thread on how to perform hyposalinity to treat the ich. If you have trouble finding it, let us know and we will walk you through the process.

Sounds like ick, mine get's ick if i go in the tank and mess with the rock a bit I do nothing and she drops it right off and get's back to normal within a few days.

ok i've got a quick question for you guys
most of the white dots on the fish has disapeared i haven't had the chance of moving him to the hospital tank yet since i didn't have time to set it up yet.
i was wondering if anyone know if the fish can recover from the ich without any special treatment?

Yes my blue tang always recovers with me doing nothing. The ick will die on the fish in about 24 hours. I NEVER treat the fish.
It should clear up I do run a 36w UV light to help control free floating ick.

that's so nice i was so worried since i didn't even have empty tank around, and no big containers to keep the fish in.
but i would defently get another tank for QT reasons so i won't have anything like that happen in the feature

This statement is completely false. Ich does not die off of the fish in 24 hours. Ich goes into a dormant stage where it will drop off of your fish into the sand bed where it multiplies. Ich will never be removed from a system without hyposalinity treatment (lowering the salinity to 1.009) or letting the system run fishless for a period of six weeks. It is up to you, you can remove the ich from your system permenantly and qt all new purchases to be certain that it does not get reintroduced into your display, or you can battle it for the life of your tank.

That statement is definitely false. Ich needs to be treated with either copper or hyposalinity or else it will never die off.

My Purple tang had the same problem and is now Ich free for about 2 weeks now and I installed a Uv and Redid the Substrate when he was done. I used a product called Kick Ich and the spots went away overnight but you continue the treatment over about a 13 day period and it is safe for inverts etc. One of the newer medications. I think he was more stressed when I removed him from the tank then from the disease. But if you don't have a uv get one.Warning: Please do not post links to other websites.

Kick ick is not new. Watertight, I am sorry to come down hard on you, but this is three posts I have come to that you have given false information on. Please do some research before giving such bad information.

I got mine at Petsmart dot com and for 29 with additional for shipping but I love the result. ***)
Being ich free for two weeks is nowhere near being cured of ich. If you did not put this fish through copper or hyposalinity, the ich will come back with this fish. Kick Ich does not kill ich. It is only a temporary fix.
