white spots

I woke up this morning and my yellow tang was covered in white spots. I have a lot of live rock and live sand in the tank so I can not treat it in there I was wondering if you think a freashwater dip would do the job or if I need a long term treatment.

If this fish is "covered" with white spots I don't think garlic will do the job. You need to get a hospital tank and treat all your fish in the hospital tank using hyposalinity.
FW dip, in and of itself, isn't going to cure ick or get the ick out of your main tank while there are still fish in it. The ick is in your tank, and will continue to be in your tank until you treat the fish [outside of the tank] leaving your tank wo fish for a month.

it's a pain in the butt what beth is saying but it's worth it... u might even be able to save some fish doing it this way... Good luck.

beckels is right, it may seem time consuming, but youll actually save time by getting rid of it the proper way. I remember the first time I ever had an ick problem I paniced and just used copper. It never works as well ad quarentine. Good luck
