well, there is some white stuff around both my clownfishes mouth. i dont know what it is. it doesnt seem to really affect them much as they swim actively and eat food. all the other fish in the tank are great. no signs of illnesses. this doesnt look like ick since its only around their mouth. any help would be appreciated.
PS i have had the tank setup for about 6-7 months, and have had the clownfish for about 5-6 months. they white stuff just started appearing. will get some pictures ASAP

the bigger one has more than the smaller one. i dont know if that will help. the pics are blurry, but you get the point...its the white stuff around its mouth.

Are the fish eating? If so, what do you feed them? It looks like the beginning of a bacterial infection of the mouth. If it is not bad yet, to the point where they are not eating, then try boosting their immune system. Feed quality foods dosed with a rotation of vitamin C and zoecon. Adding some FRESH garlic will help as well. If it gets worse then they may need antibacterial treatment. That will require a fully cycled quarantine tank.

Yes, fresh garlic. Beth has directions for cutting it in her Common Treatments FAQ at the top of this board. Can you pick up some frozen formula foods? Pro salt makes some good ones as well as RODs. Flakes and pellets are alright once in awhile, but not as the only diet. If they cannot fight off the infection by themselves, with the help of vitamins and quality diet, then you will need a cycled QT to treat them in. Keep that in mind. It is best not to wait until their is an emergency to think of a QT. If you don't already have one that is.

Zoecon and Vitachem are the two that I use. If they don't have either, then Kent vitamin C and Selcon will work.
