whitish gel on fish flesh

I'm using a piece of fish flesh with my cycle, anyhow it has a whitish looking gel all over it. Does anyone know what this is? Is it good or bad? Need to do water testing again tonight.

Agree, it is just decomposing and bacteria is forming, which is a good thing.

at this point your ammo should be quite high. if its at 1.0 or above, take it out.

Right, if it was in your boat; it would just be a piece of stinky, rotting fish. In a new tank, it is beautiful, life-giving, decomposing protein-laden, piece of life!

Ammonia is not too high, but also not zero. Same with nitrite and nitrate. Guess I'll let it be and continue to wait.
