Ok if you have a Blackcap Basslet please let me now because it doesn't seem like many people have them
If you could post a picture of yours or a friends it would be appreciated! Give me information on them please if you have time.
Thanks in advance!

they are fairly hardy. they command a higher price than other basslets because they are collected in pretty deep water. they also get about twice the size of a royal grama.

I just got a blackcap basslet last week. It is an absolutely beautiful fish. It was roughed up a bit by a six-line wrasse. I thought it would hold it's own a bit better but appears to be very passive. I've since removed the wrasse. The basslet remains skittish but is starting to come out a bit more. So far it doesn't spend much time in the main water column swimming around, hopefully it will do that as it settles into it's new surroundings.
From what I know now, I highly recommend them just make sure there is no bully in the tank.

Mine was really skittish too when I first got it. It's much better now. I have a sixline also and so far everything has been okay between the two of them.

You are lucky. I really liked my sixline but couldn't risk it any longer, plus I didn't want to have the same trouble with any other new additions.
Did you have your sixline in the tank first or was it a later addition? I was thinking that may have contributed to my problem, the sixline was already in the tank and very well established. I even tried moving around the rock structure but it didn't matter.
Does your blackcap still spend a considerable amount of time in the rocks or does it swim with the other fish most of time?

The sixline was one of the first fish I put in. From what I hear, I am very lucky that he isn't aggressive. My blackcap used to be out ALOT, but I rearranged the rockwork in my tank and he found a new cave that is much more hidden so I only see him a couple of times a day now.
