Who loves hair algae!?

Ive got a lot of hair algae frags to trade.....
But seriously, ive read a million threads on how to fix the problem. How long does it usually take? I have a LOT and heres what ive done and plan to do.....
1. I have a 125 with no sump, nor do i want one, so I got the biggest size Remora Pro Skimmer. Its been functioning for over a month now and i prolly pull out 1/4-1/2 a cup of thick nasty skimmate everyday. Youd thinki had a hgh bioload....
2. i have a very low bioload imo--1 scopas tang, 2 true percs and 1 lawnmower blenny in a 125. I have a bunch of zoos, but they get strangled bunches.
3. Last week (2 weeks ago actually i think )i took most of my rock out and scrubbed it. After about 10 days it came back in full force.
4. this weekend im starting to remove it again and im going to swicth over to RO water. Sadly it will probably only go about 10 gallons a week.
5. I have a rigged hang on refugium...Its an empty emperor filter with PC over top of it... I dont think 24-7 lighting is optimal....16hours a day give me maximal growth so far (caulerpa), but stray light gets into my display tank...!!!!!!! I wanna cut my displays PC down to 6 hours a day, but will this refugium light affect it?
6. I am gonna scrape the creep off the versatops under my lights....i heard that might help if im lucky.
7. i have 20-30 turbos, 50 or so blue leg hermits, a few red legs, 12 sally light foots, and my enw personal fav, a tuxedo urchin....this guy is mowing the crap down and nto plowing my zoos...a good buy imo.
8. Im gonna use some phosphate spnges...what the hey it cant hurt now can it?
Anything else im forgetting? How long will it be before i start to see results? So far i have about no results in 2 weeks :( but i havent decreased photo period yet.

I'll take a frag... kidding.
Actually I have been fighting Hair algae for about 3 months now, and I belive that the solution is a combination of all of the things you have suggested. First, scrape the rocks. You can rubberband a toothbrush to your syphon tube, start the syphon and start brushing. The more you take out, the better. Cleanup crew won't touch the large chunks of hair, but will destroy small patches. Just got my R/O also, busy busy busy

My hair algae has been on the decline for the past month or so. I'm not sure how I finally beat it, maybe just the tank maturing or some combination of factors. It might be my newly upgraded lighting, or the fact that I've been more vigilant on tank manitenance ... whatever it is, it's good to see that nasty stuff finally on the decline!
