Who Uses Bio Balls ..

I do, because that is what the manufacture of my system put into the sump.
I have been told by many people to both keep them and get rid of them.
I am on the fence about them, starting to lean toward taking them out and replacing with live rock.

I use them, and also on the fence, and have heard the arguements pros and cons, and don't think they are really any better or worse than using live rock in the sump

I have a DIY wet/dry with bioballs because I have a stingray and puffer which are feed very heavily with very messy food. I also have a emperiour 400, fluval 404, refugium with cheato and my nitrates are always between 30-60 ppm with weekly water changes, oh yea 80 lbs of live rock and a 4" deep sand bed, its a 125. So who knows what they are doing, but like everyone told me my trates will always be high!

There are some folks that will swear that your nitrates are high BECAUSE you have the Bio-Balls and some will argue the other way.
Taking mine out would be a major undertaking that is why I have not done so.
My water parameters are always good, so I guess I will sit on the fence a little while longer - at least until someone has conclusive evidence that they are bad for the reef.
