Who wants to talk a little Heisman?!?

Ok, so the two front runners for the Heisman right now are:
Klein from K-State (2,306 yards, 14 TD's, 6 INT's; 787 yards rushing and 20 TD's) 34 Total TD's
Johnny Football from A&M (3,047, 21 TD's, 7 INT's; 1,114 yards rushing and 17 TD's) 38 Total TD's
Just want to throw out some more numbers of a guy not getting much love...
3,367 yards passing, 33 touchdowns, 11 interceptions; 466 yards rushing and 8 touchdowns for 41 Total TD's.
Guess who that is...

I see what you mean, but the Heisman isn't about who has the best stats, or else Colt Brenan would have one or two. He's a great player, but over the last few years the winner has been one of the guys the media hyped up at the end of the year (see Robert Griffin III). If it was truly about the best overall player, Manti Teo would be the frontrunner. Boyd is a fantastic player, but he just hasn't gotten the hype the other guys have.

Yep. It's about who's the most exciting. The A&M guy is a freshman which is a disadvantage, they don't like handing it out to first year players. Dark Horse candidate. Lee from USC. If they were to upset Notre Dame and he has a big game you could see him sneak in and win it. A real long shot but if J.Q. Football and Klein split the vote it could happen. Personally I think one of the two named QB's deserve it. They got their stats playing in a real conference.

Look, I'll be the first to tell you that the ACC is down this year... But is the Big 12 really that much better? Not to mention that Klein just got blown out by Baylor, who had the worst defense in college football. THE WORST.
I'm not saying Tajh Boyd should win by any means. I'm just surprised that he's getting no national love to at least be in the conversation. I mean his numbers are insane. He just accounted for EIGHT TOUCHDOWNS in one game setting an ACC record.
The kid from A&M, he seems pretty legit to me. Going into Alabama as a freshman and beating the #1 team in the country under the bright lights? That's good enough for my vote...

Nobody is paying attention to the ACC, that is why I doubt he even gets serious consideration.

I think this year will be one of those rare times a defensive player wins the Heisman. There really isn't a major school with a Heisman caliber offensive player. Let's be honest, the ACC isn't a major program. Some of their teams are mid-major, but none are in the SEC/PAC12 level teams. So, there won't be a Heisman there anytime soon.

SEC i'll give you... What exactly does the Pac 12 have past SC, Oregon, and Stanford?

Historically, UCLA and Washington. I am not trying to impugn the ACC, but they have not been a serious contender for 50 years or so. Their teams are typically overlooked by voters because of that. A standout QB with a struggling UCLA or Auburn team would still be in contention for the Heisman. A phenomenal QB for any good ACC team would simply not even be on the radar. It's not right, but none of them are glamor teams like any of the SEC/PAC12 teams.

I get what you're saying. Although since the BCS started in 1998 the ACC has had five teams play for the title (Florida State twice, Miami twice, and Virginia Tech). That's two more than the Pac10/12, and actually three more if you count the vacated loss from the '05 Southern Cal team. The ACC is not the best by any stretch, but I don't think they are or should be as irrelivent as people make them out to be. Clemson and Florida State could both run with any team in the country.

Oh, I agree. But they get the cold shoulder like no other conference, and I think it stinks.

The PAC was underrated for years because they didn't understand the need to schedule earlier games so the voters who are concentrated in the eastern time zone would see them play. USC would get national attention but not the other teams. And as we all know the best teams don't always end up in the NC game. Bowl games in general are a better measure of conference strength. There you get to see how the teams in different conferences stack up head to head with the others.
