There was a storm here and it was moderate... only lasted a few hours and wind speeds were less than 60mph. The lightning was severe though. But then, came the crazy part... so... I was on my desktop in our office... my sister was reading in the living room... and my parents were watching Tv in our family room. All of a sudden, I feel my hair spring right up and then BOOM loudest thunder Ive heard.. and then my computer clciks off but then back on (but not like a regular power outages were the computer turns back on. It was so quick that it didn't even recognize its power supply being taken away and returned. Its all messed up now but that's besides the point.) My sister screamed because she could only describe what looked like electricity in mid air in the living room for a split second. Then I go over to my parents in the other room and they were speechless at first... they claim to have seen a stray mini branch of lightning touch the Tv and turn it off/on just as I described what happened with the desktop.
Ive seen and heard m:y fair share of crazy lightning and thunder, but this was just surreal. Especially considering that I just spent over 2 weeks in the city deemed the capitol of lightning..
so anyways, what do y'all think it was or coulda been?
btw, yes... all my fish are fine... but when I went to check kn them they were quickly pacing back and forth the aquarium....
Sent from my kindle fire.

Lightning gets close enough it does some interesting things. Those touch sensor lamps are known to fail when lightning is close. You must have had a strike run really close to your house if it reset the computer.

That is crazy... I have heard of houses getting hit or strikes near by effecting a house. That's way they say you should not stand right by a window when a big storm is going on.
I am glad everyone is okay. Did it blow the desktop, or the TV??

Where I live I am kinda in the Open and I have an Old TV antenna tower that is Grounded to Earth right outside my house It is about 50 Feet tall and taller than the trees around area. Well in all the recent Storms in the area lets just say Mister tower has been doing his Job as a Lighting ROD from Hades as he takes about 3-4 hits per Storm. I look at it this way saves my house and also gives that tower some use.

I thought so also. It probably hit somewhere in the front or backyard.... or possibly even the lightning rod on top of our house

I always thought that all of those were crazy myths... but you ain't ever gonna see me near any window during a storm now that I know that and after that experience! Lol

Nope Has not been for over 10 Years But we have kept it up as Protection from Lighting as it DOES Work. The old Antenna that was up there is pretty Much Slag now after all the hits in the last few years but I will still leave it up as when you see the Blue Flash of a bolt hit it and then Feel it Power Go down it you do not want to mess with something that DOES WORK.
