I feed both my dogs at the same time with different bowls, they are the same age
both about 1.1/3years old puppys still, the beagle eat's so fast and the yorkie eat's so SLOW
so slow sometimes that i have to pour the food on the floor so that the beagle will force the yorkie to eat faster
any tips on feeding my dogs better? lol I know this is a fish site figure I got throw a bone in the mix lol
My slowest eater in the fish tank is my sand sifting goby, he gets a piece of Mysis and nibbles like he is chewing while the other fish just swallow and look for more.
As for a dog…My Atticus is the slowest eater on Earth. If I had enough video time I would tape him eating its really kind of funny. Here is a synopsis:
My mother cooks 10 pounds of chicken legs and thighs. Which she pulls off the bones and stores to mix with his food as needed. When it is time to eat she feeds my dog one small can of dog food and an equal amount of chicken. She used to warm it up for him but he likes the fatty jelly of the chicken so we stopped.
We put his bowl on the floor.
He smells the bowl and walks away.
I call him back to finish his food.
He lies down next to the bowl for about 5 minutes.
Then he gets up and lays back down with his front paws around the bowl head hanging over it.
Then he sticks out his tongue and tastes the food, trying not to get his lips on it. Just the tip of his tongue, at this point I laugh because if he could separate the chicken from the dog food he would.
After about 2 minutes of tasting he finally begins to actually eat very, very slowly. He won’t clear the bowl around the edges and when what is gone in the center he again walks away like he is finished… so my mother takes back the bowl and scoops all his remaining food into the center and puts the bowl back on the floor and calls him to finsih up.
He returns to the bowl and finishes his food. Finally after 30 minutes he is done. The puppy then is allowed back into the room and she licks his bowl clean for him. There nothing left but a taste but she thinks its a treat.
We feed him 2Xs a day, 7:00am and 7:00pm, before my mother stepped in, he was very underweight. He will not eat enough to sustain a large German shepherd at one feeding so we split it up, the chicken caused him to gain weight, and he is now after a year of special food a normal size. He weighs 85 to 90 pounds, he is still thin but not underweight..
I used to change his food all the time trying to find something he would eat. I mixed the chicken with Alpo and he doesn’t like it anymore. Then we tried pedigree with the chicken, again after a month he wouldn’t eat it anymore. Now we feed him Paws, an off the wall brand but he eats it at least.
I have even cooked fresh cow liver for him, he liked it for a short while and now won’t eat it
So in comparison it sounds like your Yorkie is normal but just eats slow, which is good. Put the big eater in another room till she is finished.
