If they have Del Taco where you are try the tacos de carbon. Quite tasty and reasonably healthy, unfried corn tortillas and lean meat. Really good tacos.

We have taco night here on Thursdays. I make 'em as healthy as possible. Though now that I am on my diet, I will get them taco bell tomorrow.

God I miss real home made tacos where you stuff the shells and fry em up. Haven't had those in years.

Take skinless boneless chicken breasts, place in a slow cooker with a large can of drained black beans, and 16 oz of hot or mild salsa. Cook overnight and shred the chicken. Remove the top and let it sit on warm until the liquid is gone….put the meat on a corn tortilla heated over the stove fire…These are the best chicken tacos you ever tasted, very easy to make and good for you. On the weight watchers point values.. each taco is a 1, that means its very low cal.

Are taco's that bad? Most of the carts around here have lean beef, pork or chicken, fresh vegies and some even have hand-made tortillas, seems like it would have to be a lot more healthy than chain food.

Well, it all depends. The filling can be as simple as baked chicken. But then you get some of the more greasy meats too... What really gets you is if you deep fry your taco... If I'm being lazy what I do is get a rotisseried chicken. Then go buy nice thick corn tortillas, then heat up some veggi oil. Then I put the chicken in the taco and pan fry it...
Then to top it off, I'll put some avacado in it, sour cream, and some chile (which has more oil in it) it really isn't that healthy...

Funny though, when I lived in Texas I really didn't eat much in the way of meat. Whataburgers chicken stripes was about the extent of it or a Wendy's chinese chicken salad... but pretty much I pick off the chicken. I never ate Mexican food if I didn't know who made it... and I didn't eat cheese.
Today is a different story.

How can each taco be only 1 pt when the tortillas alone are a point a piece?
