Why are my hermits dying?

My ammonia is just barely up, as well as my nitrites, salinity is at 1.024, and temp is at 80-81. Alk is high, could this be the reason? I'll get numbers later, I have lost 4 of my 10 hermits in 3 weeks, and 3 of my 20 snails in three weeks as well. My cleanner shrimp just died 2 days ago as it was molting, did it molt wronge? Thanks!

ammonia at any level is toxic. nitrites also. these should both be undetectable. i would do a series of waterchanges to correct your problem and find out why you have ammonia present at all, then correct that as well.
