tank params:
pH 8
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 10 (water change scheduled in 2 days)
set up:
12g nano
10 pounds live sand
22 pounds live rock
7 weeks, 4 days
Stock list:
2 yellow clown gobies
1 turbo snail
2 small hermits (used to be 4, gone through 8 total)
2 peppermint shrimp
Tank history:
I began the cycle with a 3 stripe damsel, then i got verbally beaten by half of swf.com and took him out after the first week.
Added Turbo and hermits 3 weeks into the setup, i was told a cuc would be appropriate at that point.
At week 5 i added 2 peppermint shrimps because i had a nasty outbreak of Aptasia. They ate it like it was what they were born to do.
Added 2 clown gobies a few weeks ago
No stock has been added or removed since
the hermits have spare shells to switch in and out of. both the shells and the hermits themselves are in assorted sizes. the one that died just now was the biggest hermit, i know someone didnt kill him for his shell, because his shell (the biggest one) remains empty. I have lost 6 hermits now and all other stock seems to be doing fine.
i have consistantly kept 4 hermits in this 12g tank. once 2 of them die, and they go from 4 down to 2 hermits in the tank, i go buy 2 more. 3g of water per one small hermit. i found that ratio here in the nano section of the threads before i even bought the tank.
i have lost only hermits... and all other fish stock looks fine....why???

I have no idea dude. Do you target feed your hermits? I do sometimes, so that might help. I just set up my 8g a while ago and I have 3 hermits in mine which is one too many,I think, but they seem to do fine.
