Hobbies are to fill in your spare time. Addictions are when you put your priorities on the back burner for more. This is in no way shape or form a hobby.
The addiction? Bad. How? I have no idea.
I don't know which is worse, the tanks or the forums!

I started with Fresh then wanted prettier fish and to try something new, found a good deal on a 75gal even though I want bigger now! lol I think going to the LFS and reading boards makes the addiction worse because you see all these great fish and just want one of everything. I wish I lived in a bigger place I would have a aggresive tank and a peaceful reef tank. I also said I wouldnt spend much but now I never care how much anything is, if I really want it! Its crazy but its a good addiction if you have to money to spend, cause I have used the credit card on occasion, thats when I knew I had a problem lol

Because we can have something in our homes that few people see
because we are furthering science wether we know it or not
aquaculture is becoming the way of the future for rapidly decreasing species
knowing that we have to power to take care of living creatures is like no other
and we can help eucate others about the ocean and thus, in turn helping to create awareness of protecting it.
thats what i could come up with.

This is the perfect hobby for me!!! I love animals and am fascinated with nature.
I get that GOD feeling over my tank..........I control all of your lives!!!!!
haha ( i dont really stand over the tank and imagine the fish swimming around me cheering)

Also, i love to buy things and collect things, so a reef tank is perfect for that. When i get an urge to buy something for myself, it is easy to add sometthing to the tank (usually spending between 10 to 35$)

Nurturing is a very important part of my make up. I love gardening and animals. Tending as well as watching the results give me great deal of satisfaction as well as pleasure. I also love a challenge. Salt water definatly is that!

My lfs said that too, I think that they just said that for business, because it is a heck of a lot more work, imo. I got into the hobby because of boyscouts. I had to make a water garden. Well I had a blast with that but could only keep stinking white cloud mountain minnows in it. So I got a ten gallon tank (a whole lot smaller, but easier to control). Soon I upgraded to a larger tank, then from there you get the picture.
