Why aren't they opening

The first of May I had an ammonia spike after changing tanks and lost all my zoa.
I am now trying to get my tank restocked but all the zoas I've bought are staying closed and I don't know why. I've had some that were open in the shipping bag and open when I first put them in the tank but after a day they are staying shut.

SG= 1.025
Temp.= 78-81
NH3=0
NO2=0
pH= 7.9
Calcium= 440

If it has only been a day, give it some more time. They are probably just acclimating after the shock of being moved around. Also check flow around them and lighting.
Quote:
Environmental Conditions:
Water Chemistry and Physics: The sea mats and polyps that are zoanthids are far more tolerant than other cnidarians to waste accumulation and otherwise less than ideal water conditions. Nonetheless, minimal nitrate (less than 10ppm), phosphate (one ppm) and undetectable ammonia and nitrite should be your target.
Circulation: Practically speaking, zoanthids cannot receive too much water movement. Such flows should be chaotic; that is, not consistently blasting from one direction.
Lighting: Many of the species of zoanthids kept by aquarists are hermatypic, living with endosymbiotic zooxanthellae within their tissue. These forms appreciate moderate to intense lighting; either metal halide or shallow placement in settings with adequate full-spectrum fluorescents.

give some details on your lighting, water movevment, tank size, livestock near the zoas, inverts and fish so people can help.

I have PC lights (260w I think), 90 gal tank, nothing near the zoas other than the fish swimming around ( clowns, cardinal, half black angel its not him because they were like this before he went it the tank last week) and hermit crabs, no inverts because they were lost with the ammonia spike and I have 2powerheads and the sump return as the flow.
Nothing is different than before the spike I had other than my zoas not opening. My mushrooms aren't opening either but they were in the tank during the spike so they could be related to that. All zoas have been in the tank for over a week.

How old are your bulbs. are the ones I sent not open?? I thought they were doing good.
You ph seems a little low. do you have good surface aggitation?
Almost sounds cemical. could something have gotten in the water? though that would also effect the fish.

They were doing good the first day and now not opening
I've never been able to get the ph up even in my old tank when things were doing and growing great. There is plenty of surface aggitation and I think plenty of flow in the tank. Everything else in the tank is fine, I even have a feather duster that survived the ammonia spike growing new feathers.

What time of day was this test taken? Your pH is low. Zoo's like a pH 8.1 and above.

Try moving them to a new location. Sometimes this can make all the difference. Most zoas like a good amount of flow. Lighting may also be playing a roll so move them closer to or further as trial and into more flow at the same time. If your ph is near 8 then that is probably fine though higher would be better, unlikely that that in itself will cause them to remain closed.
As you are moving them hold them in front of a powerhead and give them a good cleaning, blowing off any debris that may have accumilated or loose sheds, algae, etc. Also keep a close eye for anything that moves. If you know how to look for nudies keep an eye out for them. A freshwater dip may be in order if the move and cleaning does not encourage them to open.
