WHY CAN'T DOGS BE MORE LIKE FISH??

Just got back from the vet. My hunting dog Scooby, ran away two weeks ago, chain and all. This morning he was home.MY FISH DONT RUN AWAY. After work I went out to check on him,and someone slit his throuht, ear to ear. I looks as though it's been like that a few days,as the wound was pretty grosse looking. He's spending a couple days at the vets for observation. They put 25 stitches in his neck. I'm just so frustrated ,and angry, that someone would do this to a dog. Well, enough venting my anger on you all. DAMN,I'M PISSED.STEVE

I can't believe that someone would do that to a dog. I'm so sorry to hear that. I guess your lucky that the dog is still alive.

For God's sake what is wrong with people now a days. We had a dog in my neighborhood get sliced down the back and legs. I know how bad you must feel. Some people are just plain sick. It disgusts me to think someone would be so sick as to harm an innocent animal. And I hope everybody else feels the same way I do about animal abuse.

That really sucks I cant believe people are so heartless. About three weeks ago a puppy was found in a dumpster near where I live with its throat also slashed several times and a muzzle on its mouth. The dog was saved ans stitched up. The spca had a drawing for the dog because there were so many people who wanted to adopt it and a guy I work with ended up getting the pup and there was a huge reward up for whoever was responsible although they still have not found them. I know I love my dog almost like a kid and hate to see that happen to anyones dog. What kind of dog is he?

I am very sorry Steve. When I was younger, we found some stray kittens that someone had abonded, that hadn't been even weaned yet. We took them and found homes for two and kept two for ourselves. We had a doggie door for our dog, so the cats could go out just like the dogs could, so they weren't as protected as indoor cats. The next summer, someone set one of the now 1 yr. old cat on fire and left him to die. He was able to slowly find his way home, and we got him to the vet as soon as possible. Since he was so young, he actually did make it, but two of his legs, (one leg in front and one in back, on either side) had to be amputated. He lived fairly normally, he was very afriad of people though, and even mroe of my younger sisters, but we were very proud of him for overcoming his handicap as well as he had. But it is very sad how some people have no care in the world for animals, and it makes me sick when I know that many of the people at my school would be the ones to do something like that because they are young and stupid. I try my very hardest to do eveything in my power to show how much animals mean to me, because I hate when an adult says things about teens not caring about anything other than themselves. And in order to remind myself sometimes I have to make double sure that I am completely sympathic toward the good of animals. I know some people were very upset at me for what I wrote in "end to hobby" post, but I was trying to make a hard stand and not relax in anything I believe in, inorder to not become one of those uncaring teens, which is easy to do once you relax on one thing, to become more relaxed about something else. Steve, I know that you care very deeply for your dog, and I hope that he will also be able to live a normal life after his terrible experience.

SCOOBY is a purebred Beagle. He's three years old and goes hunting evrywhere with me. Even likes to go on my boat. He retrieves pheasants, raggits, ducks, and even tries geese, but they are too big. He's doing fine thismorning,Eating good too. I think he'll make it.Probably will never be as friendly towards strangers though..THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONCERN. Nice to know there are alot of animal lovers out there. Just wish there were more in my neighborhood....STEVE

I am so sorry to hear about that, thank God he's alive. I have cats but I love dogs just as much. My piano instructor has like 13 cats or something and everyone on her street tries to shoot the cats even though they stay on her property. Unbelievable how cruel people are. Good recovery to Scooby,

Sorry to hear of your dog Scooby. This is the first I've heard of people slashing dogs. Which state to do you live in? I'd hate to ever find anyone doing such a horrific act to any animal that give unconditional love. I hope Scooby has a quick recovery.

I just got off the phone with the vet,she says he is doing great. I'll be bringing him home tomorrow. I have to keep him inside for a month or so because she says the stitches didnt take. Not sure what that means, maybe because the wound was old,and wouldnt close. THANK,S EVRYONE FOR YOUR KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT. I'm sure Scooby apreciates it too...STEVE

That is terrible Salty, good luck with Scooby.
We are dog lovers here, we saved a pup that was born in the wild. He on the way to becoming the best dog i have had. He is a mix lab and walker hound, about 90lbs. we sent pics to the animal shelter they couldnt believe it was same dog. he is the one they tell stories about to get people to adopt.
Oh well, gl again.

Hey, I just read your article, I'm glad to hear that Scooby will be coming home. My husband and I raise Siberian Huskies, (in FL, ironic huh?) Anyway, we love them as much as our two sons, and it'a a shame the way people treat ANYTHING these days. I hope Scooby doesn't have any residual effects from this traumatic experience, please keep us posted on any progress.
