why does my anemone release this brown goo?

my bta was all happy with both maroons in it...i dropped in a peice of krill .... and it shrivels up...and starts letting out the brown goop from its mouth....stringy like. it does this alot. is it pooping? why does it do this when i feed it?
whats going on!
and the tips get all shrivled....?

the brown goo coming from your anemone is a combination of solid waste that could not be processed (poop) and dead zooxanthellae that have been replaced by new! a sign of a nice healthy anemone!

jon- what do you think about me removing all the media from my aqua clear 300 and filling it with LS and LR rubble and turning the flow all the way down?
or should i keep a filter with floss on the tank?

id say do it, but make sure its got lighting . the only thing i would worry about would be the ambient light from it getting into your tank and disrupting your fish. at the lfs i work at weve got emperor filters on all the 55 fish tanks and smaller ones on the coral tanks and they all run empty with just the biowheel. we put carbon or polyfilter in every once in awhile, but then again they do have ug filters. id say do it. as long as you have lr and a dsb, your gonna get most of your filtration from those two sources anyhow. what size tank is it again, and what other filters do you have? the lights would be tho only thing that would worry me, because typically with a fuge you wnat it lit 24/7 or at least reverse cycle

Thanks Noobie!! I have only 220 watts of VHO and a Bak-Pak Skimmer. I could probably do with better for both but I am saving that for the 180 I'm planning:D So far it seems to be going well with what I have so it's obviously adequate even if not ideal.

jon, im thinking about getting the hang on refuig by CPR...
i got a small 13 watt hood lamp that will go on top of it...i could set something up so the light wouldnt get in the tank at night i suppose.
the aquaclear will shoot sand out when its on...so i dont know what to do about that. i guess ill get the CPR...we'll see
other filtration is just a prizm skimmer
