why does my astrea snail climg out of the water level?

when i first added my atlantic turbo he almos immediately started climbing up the glass to the top, is he commiting suicide or something?

To dry off......J/K mine do it too. I think they are just eating the algea at the water line or maybe some that grows a little above it...

might be but my tank has a lot of algae on the bottom

Algae gorws all over the tank, but it is more prevelant near the surface for a couple of reasons:
the fish don't bother it, the oxygen level is higher, the light level is higher, so your snail is gettin' the best it can.
