why does my clownfish swim right above my anemone but won't host it. he'll swim above it for a few mins then leave it then come back to get after a few mins.? what do u think he's doing? anemone is new to tank about three days in tank, if that helps

Hmmm....Mine does this with my GSP. I think either 1 ... He is wondering what the heck is that, since it is new ... or 2 ... he is thinking about hosting it.
All clowns dont host an anemone ... Its not a given. Clownfish are all different, so some host and some never will in the aquarium.

Green Star Polyps ... Clowns are weird about it. WHo knows what their thinking or next action will be. Give them some time and the probably eventually will host it. Its just hard to tell.

I read somewhere that tank bred clownfish take a little bit of time to host in the anemone. Since they are not accustomed to it in the tank, they may not know what it is. And if it's wild, it may not take as long, but I understand that they take there time sometimes in getting with an anemone. HTH
