why doesnt lion fish sting when rubbed against

On multiple occasions fish of mine rub my volitan lion. Sides, top, back and front....thought these were poisenious. I dont doubt they are, but why arent the fish getting stung?

its the tips of the spines thats poisonus . they have to puncture or break the skin to release the posion .
