Why don't public aquariums have reef tanks?

In the past couple months I've been to both the Mandalay Bay aquarium in Las Vegas and the Ripley's saltwater aquarium in Myrtle Beach. Both had large community tanks with many concrete corals but neither had many real corals. The ripley's aquarium had a small (under 1000 gallon) semi reef tank with maybe 10 or so species of softies. So my question is why don't any of these places have large SPS or softie tanks? I've heard that the Shedd in Chicago have great reef tanks but haven't gotten to go there yet.

I was very dissapointed in a recent visit to the Audbon Aquarium in New Orleans. After passing through the fish exhibit, I saw a large mangrove plant. BUT...Like all of the corals there the mangrove was plastic. There were a few real reef tanks and a great seahorse and jelly exibit. The corals were weak.
There were a few shool kids walking around at the same time I was there. "What did Y'all get for number 15?" I wish I could have taken that test for them.

Na, I haven't made it around to the Ripley's aquarium at Gatlinburg, I'm kind of afraid its gonna be the same as the one at Myrtle Beach an I'll be paying to see the same stuff again.

I've been to the Gatlinburg aquarium and I was not disappointed. Mattter of fact, it was awesome. They take you on a moving sidewalk through tunnels under the water with sharks and eels swimming overhead. They also have many freshwater exibits and a nice exibit dedicated to the Titanic.

Right now the old one is mainly Freshwater and Saltwater of the Gulf where the river meet the ocean.
The new one, under construction, will be mainly Saltwater aquarium.
As soon after the completion of second aquarium, Come on and vist all of it. :jumping: After that visit then yall can go to Atlanta or Gatlingburg Aquarium! What a convience places to visit! YIPPPES!
By the way, I have been to Gatlingburg Aquarium and you would not be disappointed as posters explained above. Worth the visit.
I was at Las Vegas last summer and I was NOT aware that there was an aquarium exhibition there! Shoot I missed that opportunity? or Was it new? Please explain about LAS' Aquarium as I may re-visit there again within next few years? Thanks
